The time elapsed since the last sighting is one of the largest factors contributing to an operation’s success.

One of the most critical factors in any search and rescue, whether human or animal, is the “Time Factor”. This metric is also one of the few factors in our control. We can’t turn back the clock, but every additional hour that elapses expands the search area and reduces the likelihood of a successful operation. In animal search, the best results happen when we come out within 24 hours of a sighting.
